The most abundant rock drilled is shale. Some of these shales cause wellbore stability problems during the drilling process. These can range from slow rate of penetration and high torque up to stuck pipe and hole abandonment. In this study we review driiling of a well in north of Persian Golf at Iran. Dashtak is a shaly formation that was caused many problems in drilling. Drilling at this formation must be done very careful and with a suitable mud.
