Round ejector pins are used to force the molded part out of the open mold. In this unit you will learn about ejector pin types, their application, and actuation. Ejector Systems This animation shows a Pin Type Accelerated Ejector. Accelerated ejectors help to eject molded parts that tend to stick to a core, causing a normal ejector pin set-up to damage and/or stress the ejected article. This unit will cover a few of the typical ejection systems. Molding Internal Threads This animation shows a typical rack and pinion unscrewing mold. The internal molded threads act as an undercut to prevent normal ejection. The threaded core must be unscrewed out of the cap before ejection. This unit will cover more about molding internal threads. Mold Plate Control The animation shown uses an external Latch Lock System to control stripper plate opening. The mold parting line is allowed to open to a set amount, then the stripper plate is locked while the mold continues to open. Controlling plate action can shorten cycle time and increase production. Early Return Systems This animation shows a Toggle-Lock System for early ejector assembly return. The ejector pins must be returned before the cam pins contact and move the slide blocks in, or mold damage will occur.
